Olive Craig

Future Saint Co-founder

I have always had a passion for the aesthetics of clothing and sneakers however I found myself stuck to the golden handcuffs and innovation of technology and having co-founded my first venture which reached Forbes Japan and a valuation of 12 million – it wasn’t the success that I expected, more of a horror story and lots of learnings!

1
What is your favorite medium?

The construction of garments & silhouettes; fabric, garment hardware, applications & dyes.

2
What work are you most proud of?

"The Nostolgic Era" Collection I grew up hard and fast with limited resources to create and express myself in my truest form therefore this collection hits home around the concept - There are no worldly possessions that should come between you and your expression to create. I want Future Saint wearers to embrace this ethos, constantly evolving and adding value to themselves despite any obstacles.I wanted to explore the intersection of nostalgia, decay, and innovation - creating a visually arresting juxtaposition. By pairing the faded grandeur of the Unlikely Florist and the desolation of the warehouse with modern, dynamic automotive graphics, with the aim to challenge conventional notions of beauty and elevate the unexpected. The collection symbolises the passage of time, the cyclical nature of life, and the enduring allure of Americana. It speaks to the resilience of creativity in the face of adversity and the ability to find beauty in unexpected places.

Where are you from and how does that affect your work?

I am indigenous to Aotearoa (New Zealand), my heritage serves as the heartbeat of my creations, both present and forthcoming. Future Saint emerges as a singular entity in the realm of fashion, entwining the threads of heritage and nostalgia into every collection. I pull inspiration not only from my own lineage but from diverse cultures, embracing timeless sophistication through a blend of vintage aesthetics and contemporary streetwear influences.

How do you find inspiration?

A lot of my inspiration comes from past, present and future narratives, often rooted in the exploration of antiques, art, books, culture & the stories of vintage pieces. I like to see how other cultures constructed pieces (in any medium). It's a place to give form to my sometimes formless feelings when learning about the above pieces. Raised by a grandmother skilled in garment construction and a grandfather passionate about antique collection, I was imbued with a profound understanding of culture, craftsmanship, and storytelling, laying a solid foundation for my creative journey.
